How to Tame your Frizzy Curls

It’s been awhile since I posted on here, I took a little break to sort some things out, but I’m back now! The other day I went to Sephora with a friend of mine, both of us have dry, frizzy, somewhat curly hair and we’re always sharing tips and tricks on taming it. It’s especially hard in the summer time with all the humidity making it frizz into a giant tumbleweed. It doesn’t even look good when you put it up in a ponytail, so basically you’re screwed either way. Anyways, She had told me that she was using the Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious shampoo and conditioner but was hesitant over buying the calming cream, not knowing whether or not it was going to make her hair stiff and crunchy. Whenever I’m hesitant over a product I usually google it, so that night I did just that and found various videos praising the Calming Cream. I went back to Sephora the very next day and BUMBLE&BUMBLE2decided to give it a shot and now I’m obsessed.

First, I’ll start with the shampoo and conditioner. I picked up the Curl Conscious line from Bumble and Bumble, the bottles and pretty expensive for their size but you can get such a rich lather with a small amount of shampoo. I was confused as to whether I should use the curl conscious line or the quenching one since my biggest problem is dry hair. The girl at sephora pointed out that most people with curly hair suffer from dryness and breakage too, so the curl conscious line addresses that issue while also playing up your curls.

After getting out of the shower, I used a pretty generous amount of the calming cream on my hair. I learned two different ways to use it. One is to separate your hair into one inch sections and twist them into dreads using the cream then gently dry your hair with a defuser. Once you separate the dreads they should be in tight curls. The second way is to just coat your hair in the cream, work it through and let it air dry. Since I’m lazy (and lost my defuser) I opted for the second option. Once my hair dried, it was still big but the frizz was gone, I was so pleased with the results!

Before heading out I quenched my roots Bumble and Bumble’s Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil and I was out the door.
