It’s kind of crazy to think how long social media has been prevalent in our lives. From MySpace to Facebook and everything in between, we’ve spent a decade building an online persona, leaving a paper trail of photos and status’ that are sometimes (most of the time) cringe-worthy when rediscovered. Today I decided to go through all of my instagram posts and choose my top 10 memories, some are significant and some are just silly. I could have easily made this a top 100 post seeing as I have so many stories and memories to go along with the hundreds of posts I make, but the ones that made the cut stand out in my mind for some reason or another, so lets get started…
1. 13 weeks ago…There are two reasons why I posted this quote. The first is that I love F. Scott Fitzgerald. I feel like he was able to take the most mundane, ordinary aspects of our lives and transform them into poetry. The second reason I posted this was because I had just graduated from Uni. It took me some time to really figure out what I wanted to do with my life and by the time I had gone back to school I was a few years older than most of my classmates. It was a bit awkward being in my mid 20’s surrounded by a bunch of 18 year olds, fresh out of high school, but once I graduated I felt a great sense of accomplishment. It may sometimes be uncomfortable but just keep in mind that no matter how old you are, it’s never too late to go after a dream or achieve a goal. This quote fit perfectly into that time in my life and I felt the need to share it with everyone.

Breakfast at Tiffanys is my all time favourite movie. Something about it just makes me feel so unexplainably happy. I’ve made it a tradition to watch this movie at least once around the holiday season. Netflix may have removed it from their line-up, but I still have two digitally remastered copies on DVD.

This was one of those nights that I’ll always remember for no real, significant reason. It was just one of those days where you’re surrounded by so much love and happiness. I guess when you surround yourself with great people, you make great memories.
This photo was taken on the morning of New Years Day 2014. My best friend and I decided to get some breakfast and make resolutions for the year to come, the only place that was open was Starbucks and there was a horrible snowstorm outside. We drank our lattes and talked about all the excitement 2014 would bring with it. I got really sick that night… not sure why, but the morning was nice and cozy

I took this photo while waiting for an audition at Much Music (Canadian Music network). I had driven hours in a snow storm, to stand outside for 3 hours (again, in a snow storm) for a five minute audition. I didn’t get the part but the experience was worth it (I think) . I took this photo when the staff at Much Music felt so bad for us, that they let us wait inside in the set of the Marilyn Dennis show just so we didn’t freeze to death.

I was supposed to go to a Tigers baseball game in Detroit with some co-workers on this day, but somehow I lost my whole group. I ended up spending hours alone in downtown Detroit looking for them and didn’t even have my ticket to get into Comerica park. Luckily, some guys had an extra ticket and took pity on me, they gave me the ticket and I was able to get into Comerica (which was slightly less dangerous than wandering the streets of downtown Detroit by myself). I ended up finding so many cool things, I’ll never wander over there alone again, but it was a great memory.

My best friend and I went to go see Fitz and the Tantrums play in this small food festival in Amherstburg, Ontario. Seriously, if any of you are looking for a really good concert to go to, I would highly recommend seeing Fitz and the Tantrums live, they really know how to put on a great show. This was the first of about five times that we had seen them perform that year, seriously, they’re so good.

I stumbled into this little book store one afternoon while I was on break at school. It was the cutest little shop in the world owned by the most adorable lady who will tell you as many stories as the ones in her books. I loved the look of all the books piled on top of each other with no real order, just stacks and stacks of knowledge.

As a communications major, I got to participate in some of the most interesting projects and assignments, this one in particular will always stand out in my mind. The professor had the whole class meet at a local record store, we spent hours digging through records, listening to music and chatting amongst one another. The assignment was to choose one record and write an in-depth essay about the history of the band, the recording company and any apparent marks on the record which may have indicated who its previous owners were.
So those are my top 10 Instagram posts, I hope you guys had just as much fun going through them as I did.
